Does VIT offer summer semester?
Yes. VIT offers limited subjects for the summer semester in November for HE students. As a student, you will be advised on the subject’s availability prior to the commencement of the summer semester. To obtain more information, please email [email protected]

Can I pay my fees over the phone?
No. Payments must be done in person using EFTPOS, credit card, cash, personal cheque, bank cheque, or electronic funds transfers.

What is the weight average mark?
FOR VET STUDENTS
Vocational Education Courses are skilled marked. Hence, the marking its not measured by percentages. To complete your qualification, you must have all your units marked Competent. In the case an assessment being marked Not Yet Satisfactory (NYS) you have the option to fix it and re-submit to achieve Competency.
FOR HE STUDENTS
Grade Interpretation:
A: 80 – 100% B: 70 – 79% C: 60 – 69% D: 50% – 59%
F: < 50% (FAIL) WH: Withheld WD: Withdrawn

How do I get my Assignments?
FOR VET STUDENTS
Assignments will be given by your trainer during the theory sessions. You must complete and submit them in reception. Please make sure your trainer has signed it, you have added a cover sheet (available in reception) and any extra documents (practical evidence / pictures) before you submit.
FOR HE STUDENTS
Assignments will be given by your lecturer during class. You must complete and submit them via Moodle (LMS)
How do I know my academic progress?

What happens if I fail the unit?
FOR VET STUDENTS
- Duration of each unit is outlined in the timetable
- You can see all units of the current course through Moodle
- For VET Courses it is not possible to withdraw from any unit assigned to you
- You will receive in your student email feedback an outcome for every unit. In case the outcome is Not Yet Satisfactory (NYS), please follow the instructions to correct the assessment and check with your trainer before re-submitting your assessment.

- HE-SSO will send you your Study Plan during the enrollment period in each semester which contains the units you are required to study
- Through your Moodle account you should be able to see all units of your current semester
- For that reason, you cannot withdraw from the units.
- You will receive in your student email feedback an outcome for every unit in each Semester. If you wish you can follow the instruction in the email and apply for Review of Grades. If you don’t apply or your application was unsuccessful, you are required to enrol again to that unit.
I cannot complete the assignment on time, can I withdraw from the unit?

How do I apply for a deferment?
Please complete the Deferment Form available on our website and hand in to reception or send it back to:

You must be aware that you need to provide enough supporting documents to defer your course, as the decision will be made based on them.
What do I have to do if I have to go to my home country for an emergency?

Can I go to my home country while I am studying?
You can travel outside Australia during VIT break periods. However, VIT does not grant break periods during the study period. If you wish to have days of absence approved by VIT you must apply for a deferment. However, as an international student, you must follow VIT procedure if you wish to go outside Australia during a study period. Under all circumstances you must apply for a deferment if you wish to leave the country during your studies.
How do I get a reference letter, invitation letter, enrolment letter, holiday letter from VIT?
For any reference letter please complete the request for Reference Letters Form available on our website and hand it in to reception or send back to:
[email protected] if you are a VET/ELICOS student or
[email protected] for HE students.
Please make sure to write clearly the reason for your request and include any extra details in the letter.
Please note the processing times for any reference document is 2 to 4 weeks.
I need evidence of my enrolment. Who should I contact?

There are different resources that you can research about your destination. Google search is one of the easiest and fastest search engines to search about any topics. You can also use the Australian Government website to check accurate visa conditions and any legal topic. What English language tests are acceptable for Australian student visas?
You can satisfy the English language requirements in several ways (IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE (Academic), CEFR (CAE or CPE and others) to meet the VIT’s Course-specific English language requirements. Before the proposed date of commencement of course enrolment, you must satisfy the requirements in one sitting or combinations of English preparation or you may be considered subject to meeting our internal assessment on a case by case basis. What is the cost of living in Australia?
Knowing the average living costs in Australia is an important part of your financial preparation.
The Department of Home Affairs has financial requirements you must meet in order to receive a student visa for Australia.
As of October 2019, the 12-month living costs are AUD$21,041 for students or guardians, AUD$7,362 for partners coming with you, and AUD$3,152 for a child coming with you. Does VIT provide accommodation?
VIT can help find accommodation for students in apartments or homestay. If students require airport pickup, arrangements will be made for them to be met at the airport. VIT must be notified at least 10 working days in advance of the confirmed flight details and accommodation requirements. Applicants should indicate their preference for the type of accommodation they require on the Application Form. Does VIT provide course materials?
Yes, we provide text books, printed materials and e-books.
Can I enroll in VIT if I am under 18?
VIT currently does not offer any course to students under the age of 18.
Can I transfer between campuses?
Yes. If you wish to transfer between campuses, please email [email protected] if you are a VET student, or [email protected] if you are a HE student.
Am I allowed to work during my course?
You cannot work until you have commenced your course in Australia. A student visa allows you to work up to 40 hours per fortnight once your program has commenced and is in session, and unrestricted hours when your program is not in session.

How do I pay my fees?
Students are required to pay the fees and any other charges, such as the re-assessment or re-enrolment fee (where applicable), by the due date as notified. If tuition fees are not received by the due date, students will be advised of VIT’s intention to cancel their enrolment.
Initial payment
As an overseas student, you are required to make an initial payment comprising your first semester’s tuition fees, the overseas student health cover charge, and any other fees prescribed by VIT prior to receiving a Confirmation of Enrolment (COE) statement.
Subsequent payments
As a rule, all tuition fees must be pre-paid 2 weeks in advance of the semester commencement date. After commencing studies at VIT you may be able to choose other payment options with the agreement of VIT.
Methods of payment
VIT accepts the following methods of fee payment: cash, EFTPOS, credit card, personal cheque, bank cheque, or electronic funds transfers. The Student Identification Number (SID), name is to be mentioned as reference in all the transactions and details of payment e-mailed to [email protected] with the SID.

APPLICATION
Can VIT help me apply for a student visa in Australia?
VIT is unable to assist with visa applications. You can find comprehensive information about how to apply for your student visa on the Department of Home Affairs’ website
How do I find an education agency?
You can find an education agency by visiting our website: Agents.
How long does the application process take?
If your application is approved and you accept the offer you must submit the Enrolment Acceptance to VIT. Once VIT receives the signed Enrolment Acceptance it will accept payment (via bank draft or electronic transfer) and issue the (eCOE) Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment to you or your education agent within 48 hours.
If the submission documentation is incomplete your application will not be processed and you or your education agent will be contacted for the required information.
How do I apply for a course as an international student?
Please email your Application Form and course entry requirement documents to [email protected] Upon receipt of your application, you will be sent a letter of offer, detailing total course costs, course duration and course details. For International Students, this may be sent to you or your education agent via email and will include a copy of the Enrolment Acceptance.
Ensure that the application form has been fully completed and signed and all course entry requirement documents have been provided.

What is a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)?
ADMISSION
Can I obtain credits from my previous studies?
If you are seeking credit transfer for the same or similar unit/s previously completed at a different institute, you must submit the following supporting documents with your credit transfer application:
– Certified copy of relevant certificates and results for any studies that you have completed
– Unit outlines
– Credit Transfer Application Form – available at VIT reception

If my visa gets refused, can I apply for a refund?
If a student was refused a student visa and the refusal was a reason for the student’s failure to start the course on the agreed starting day for the course, or withdrawing from the course on or before the agreed starting date, the course fee (tuition fee and the non-tuition fee) minus the lesser of the following will be refunded:
- 5% of the amount of course fees received by the provider in respect of the student before the default date
- Visa Refusal Default Amount: AU$500.00
If a student was refused a student visa after the student commenced the course and that refusal has resulted in either the student withdrawing from the course or the student failing to pay an amount that he/she is liable to pay VIT to undertake the course, the tuition fee for the weeks in the default period (unspent tuition fees) will be refunded. Non-tuition fees paid will not be refunded. Refund amount = weekly tuition fee x weeks in default period
My letter of offer has conditions, what does it mean?
To accept the offer, you must sign the Enrolment Acceptance Agreement and return it to us together with payment for the initial deposit required to secure your place as per the Letter of Offer.
How long does it take to get a letter of offer?
Generally, it takes 2 to 3 working days; however, it may vary during public holidays and school holidays.

What happens if I did not attend my orientation?
As orientation is a mandatory requirement, if you fail to attend orientation, your CoE will be cancelled and you may have to move your intake. If you could not attend your orientation, please inform your education agent immediately or email us at [email protected]
Why is it important to attend orientation?
Staff who run the orientation program work hard to ensure that you as a student will be well equipped to achieve the best possible success in your studies. There is a lot of information for you to understand and consider as you move through your studies at VIT.
The orientation includes the following:
- Information on Course of Study, academic requirements and timetables
- Course payment plan
- Institute policies and procedures, including Refund Policy, Deferral, Suspension and Cancellation Policy, Fees and Charges Policy, Reassessment Policy, Complaints Policy and Academic Integrity Policy
- Course delivery locations
- Marking and assessment procedures
- Student facilities and common areas
- Distribution of prescribed resource material, student handbook and student guide
- Fire safety, evacuation and emergency procedure
- OH&S legislation and information
- Public transport
- Advice on counselling and health services
Once you are concentrating on your studies, you will feel less stressed if you are already comfortable with the institution, your educators, other staff and its services.
Can someone else attend orientation instead of me?
No, no one can attend instead of you. You must attend orientation in person and provide your passport to prove your identity.
Do I have to attend orientation?
Yes, attending orientation before starting your course is mandatory and very important. If you fail to attend, your course will remain uncommenced and your CoE will be cancelled.
When is my orientation?
You will be advised of the orientation date on your letter of offer.
GRADUATION
Are there any fees I need to pay to attend the graduation ceremony?
Yes, you will be required to purchase/hire your graduation attire. You need to apply to graduation, send them an email for details.
How many guests can I invite to my graduation ceremony?
It depends on the availability of tickets.
Do I have to attend the graduation ceremony?
No, HE students are not obliged to attend the graduation ceremony; however, they must pay the fee to obtain the completion certificate. If you are a VET/ELICOS student, you can collect your completion certificate in person 2 to 4 weeks after you have successfully completed your course. You can also authorize another person to collect the completion certificate on your behalf. This person must show identification (photo ID, passport or Australian driver license)
Can someone else collect my completion certificate on my behalf?
It is only permitted for VET/ELICOS students. You must send us an email authorizing the person who will collect the completion certificate on your behalf. This person must show identification (photo ID, passport or Australian driver license). HE students are required to collect their completion certificate in reception.
How do I collect my completion certificate?
You can collect your completion certificate in reception. If you wish to have a digital copy of your completion certificate, please email: [email protected] if you are a VET/ELICOS student or [email protected] ( its for Melbourne), [email protected] ( for sydney campus) for HE students
