The Victorian Institute of Technology (VIT) was founded in 1998 as a proprietary limited company and registered with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) as the Victorian Institute of Information Technology Pty Ltd. When VIT was first established, it focused on consulting and educational studies in Information Technology.
Following the granting of Registered Training Organisation (RTO) status in 2000, VIT expanded its scope of delivery to include Business studies, Hospitality, and ELICOS programs. In 2003, the organisation adopted its current registered name, the Victorian Institute of Technology Pty Ltd (ACN 085 128 525).
VIT is a dual-sector education provider registered with the relevant national regulatory bodies to deliver approved courses as outlined below.
